The U.S. government expressed appreciation for the new administration's efforts to address key political, economic, and social priorities. Mr. Donald Lu reaffirmed the United States' commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Additionally, he conveyed the U.S. government’s willingness to provide technical assistance for initiatives aimed at recovering funds taken out of Sri Lanka as part of the ongoing anti-corruption program.
The discussion highlighted Sri Lanka’s political culture's impact on corruption and waste, with an emphasis on fostering transparency to combat these issues. The government’s steps to investigate illegal activities, both domestically and internationally, and the measures to expedite these investigations were also outlined.
Further discussions centered on improving rural living standards through the strengthening of the rural economy and modernizing public service by incorporating advanced technologies to enhance its quality.
