Sri Lanka President Anura Kumara Dissanayake embarked on his first official foreign visit to India today (15), following an invitation from Indian President Droupadi Murmu. The visit, scheduled to conclude on December 17, will include high-level bilateral discussions and events aimed at strengthening ties between the two nations.
During the visit, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is set to engage with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss issues of mutual interest. Meetings are also scheduled with Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Health Minister J.P. Nadda, and National Security Advisor Shri Ajit Doval, among other senior officials.
A key highlight of the visit will be participation in a business forum in New Delhi, aimed at fostering stronger investment and trade relations between Sri Lanka and India.
The visit will conclude with a visit to Bodh Gaya, a site of significant spiritual and cultural importance.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Employment, and Tourism Vijitha Herath, as well as Minister of Labour and Deputy Economic Development Minister Prof. Anil Jayantha Fernando.
