Initial Discussions on 2025 Budget Focus on Ministry of Education

 Preliminary discussions at the ministerial level to draft the 2025 budget began today (10), with a meeting focused on the Ministry of Education's expenditure held this morning at the Presidential Secretariat.

Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, participated in the discussion along with Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Madura Seneviratne. Other attendees included Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Mahinda Siriwardena, and Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Nalaka Kaluwewa, as well as other senior officials from the Ministry.

This session marked the commencement of the pre-conversations aimed at preparing a comprehensive budget document for 2025. The discussions emphasized evaluating the Ministry of Education's financial needs and strategies to align with national goals in the education sector.
