President Dissanayake Discusses Development Cooperation with Chinese Delegation
On November 25, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with a Chinese delegation led by Ms. Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee (IDCPC), at the Presidential Secretariat.
During the meeting, the Vice Minister congratulated President Dissanayake on his victories in the recent presidential and general elections, commending the transformative changes in Sri Lanka under his leadership. The delegation expressed readiness to collaborate with Sri Lanka on various initiatives and emphasized the importance of establishing a mutually beneficial, long-term cooperation program between the two countries.
Discussions focused on development prospects for both nations, including investment promotion, technology transfer, digitalization, and rural economic upliftment. The Chinese delegation assured their support for improving human resource development in Sri Lanka, particularly through training programs for officials in the education sector.
President Dissanayake expressed his gratitude for China’s continued support and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath and Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake on behalf of Sri Lanka. The Chinese delegation included Deputy Director General of the IDCPC Lin Tao, Director Li Jinyan, Secretary to the Deputy Minister Jin Yan, and Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Qi Zhenhong.
