Car Catches Fire on Southern Expressway, Train Engine Repaired, Passara-Bibila Road Reopens

A car heading towards Galle caught fire today (24th) near the 20th kilometer post on the Southern Expressway. The fire was quickly extinguished by the expressway's fire extinguishing unit.

Meanwhile, the engine M11-954 of train No. 5003, which derailed at Thalemannaram Port Station on the night of the 23rd, has been successfully repaired.

The Passara-Bibila road, which had been closed for seven days due to the collapse of an earthen mound in the Kanuwa area, reopened for traffic today (24th). However, it will be closed daily from 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., and this schedule may change depending on weather and safety conditions.
