McDonald’s has recently ended its franchise partnership in Sri Lanka, leading to the closure of all 12 of its locations across the country. The move follows alleged compliance issues with the local operator, Abans, which held the franchise since 1998. McDonald’s cited general compliance and hygiene concerns but did not specify details. Reports indicate that the company pursued legal action against Abans before ultimately deciding to end the agreement. While McDonald’s has ceased operations in Sri Lanka for now, there remains the possibility of its return with a different franchise partner in the future
