VACANCIES
Applications are invited by me up to 24th December, 2014 from suitably qualified applicants for the
following posts:
A. ELECTRICIAN, GRADE II - KILINOCHCHI PRIMESES
Qualifications:
i. Pass in the 8th standard.
ii. Should be conversant with
a) Detecting faults, repairs and assembly of materials, transformers and all types of machinery and
appliances, cables, wires and their ratings, measuring instrument and their uses various types of
wiring, joining, testing meters and small transformers ;
b) Reading and understanding drawings and diagrams. Reading scales and record fractional
dimensions;
c) Care and the use of the tools in the trade.
iii. Not less than 2 years’ experience as an electrician in a government department, State Corporation or
in a recognized establishment.
Salary Scale : UPL 3(III) Rs.15,650 – 16 x 140 – 17,890 p.m
Selection: By Trade Test and Interview
B. PLUMBER, GRADE II - KILINOCHCHI PRIMESES
Qualifications:
iv. Pass in the 8th standard.
v. Should be conversant with
a) Reading scales up to 1/64”and maintenance and current use of tools;
b) Laying C.I and G.I and lead pipes including various joints and their testing;
c) Repair of ball-valves, cisterns etc., and reading and understanding of simple drawings.
vi. Not less than 2 years’ experience in plumbing.
Salary Scale : UPL 3(III) Rs.15,650 – 16 x 140 – 17,890 p.m
Selection : By Trade Test and Interview
C. LIBRARY ATTENDANT, GRADE II
Qualifications:
i. a) Pass in 6 subjects at the G.C.E (Ordinary Level) Examination with Sinhala/ Tamil/
English and Pure Mathematics/Arithmetic/Commercial Arithmetic as subjects at not
more than 2 sittings;
ii. At least 2 years’ experiences in Library work.
Salary Scale : UPL 1(III) Rs.14, 150-15x130- 16,100.p.m
Selection: By Aptitude Test and Interview
Note : In addition to the above salary, the allowances approved by the University Grants Commission will also be paid.

Applications should be on specified forms issued by the University. Application forms and particulars for the above post should be obtained from the Office of the Senior Assistant Registrar / Establishments [Non –Academic] of this University on a payment of Rs. 100/- for each application form at the Shroff’s counter of this University. Those who wish to obtain the forms and details by post are requested to send a Money Order / Postal Order to the value of Rs. 100/- drawn in favour of the Bursar, University of Jaffna together with self addressed Stamped envelope of 23X10 c.m in size. Only Applications sent on the specified form will be accepted. Please annexed copies of relevant documents. The envelope containing the dully filled application form must bear” the name of the post applied for” on its top left hand corner and either hand delivered or sent under registered post to reach the Senior Assistant Registrar, Establishments (NA) Branch, University of Jaffna, Jaffna on or before 24.12.2014.

Applicants from Government Departments, State Corporations and Statutory Bodies should apply through the Heads of respective Institutions. Advance copies of applications may be sent in the first instance. However, no such applicant will be considered for appointment if the application routed through the Head of Department is not received.
Incomplete and illegible applications and applications that are received after the closing date will be
rejected.
